End & Eternity

Resonant

SATURDAY, JAN 16TH 11:00 AM

If we live without any purpose, reward or meaning, time flows mechanically. Meaningless life is not worth continuing. Purposeless life leads human existence to a point of being a mechanical clock. It is needless to say one must live a worthwhile and meaningful life. Unlike a machine, a man should leave behind fruitful jobs and worthwhile accomplishments. A clock symbolizes a machine-like human. Life is precious. It should be spent to make a man who can and is willing to contribute to the world. A man’s name is left behind after his death. In other words, he should lead a life of worth.

“Starlight” is the story of Julia, a young college student who has just failed a crucial midterm. After an uncomfortable conversation with her professor, Julia gets a call from her mother saying her grandfather has suddenly fallen ill and immediately sets out for home. Along the way, her quest is interrupted by a mysterious stranger, Hal, who is a plane spotter for the United States Army. When Julia realizes that he will be walking out to his plane-watching post alone, she offers him a ride, and they become fast friends. They talk about everything, Julia’s hopes and fears, her relationship with her grandfather, and how scared she is that he is so ill. Realizing how late it has become, Julia bids farewell to Hal and heads home, only to find that her grandfather has slipped away. But when Julia recognizes a strangely familiar bomber jacket hanging in her grandparents’ house, she realizes the truth—Hal was her grandfather’s spirit, saying good-bye to her before he left.

Nine To Five Ned

4 min (Short Animation)

Director: Brandon Ray

Expected to attend

Ned is a dreamer. Most people would consider his life to be rather boring or ordinary, but Ned flexes his imagination and finds the fantastical in his nine-to-five job. One day, while typing in his office cubicle, something rather extraordinary happens that could change the course of his life... forever. 'Nine to Five Ned' is a non sequitur dance between the mundane and the absurd, sprinkled with a candy-coated shell of optimism. Most importantly, 'Nine to Five Ned' is a celebration of the material imperfections that distinguish the non-digital roots of stop-motion animation's past.
